Emergency Response lends a hand in litter pick-up

Emergency Response operators are nothing short of heroes. They respond to all sorts of traffic scenarios ranging from  traffic crashes , stalled vehicles, and interstate shut downs. One thing we don’t hear about quite as often, however, is their assistance in keeping Missouri roadways clean.   Emergency Response operators pick up accident and roadway debris daily. Recently though, they organized their first ever litter pick up on a portion of MoDOT right of way and collected 30 bags of trash. The area they selected along I-70 is near the Emergency Response Building and what they refer to as their own backyard.  “Because our building is adjacent to the highway, it gets noticed by many.  I wanted to spruce up our backyard and try to make the area between  18th Street  and  23rd Street  look like our lot and building,” explains Incident Management Coordinator Marcus Slaughter.
