Fellow participants included those from ITS, Signals, Operations, Engineering, Planning, Traffic Modeling, Assets Management and MPOs from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and New Jersey.

The three-day training focused on introducing key TSMO concepts within the Transportation Operations Manual or the ‘TOM’ such as culture, performance management, business processes, corridor management, emerging technologies, traffic incident management, planned special events, and program plan development. Peer presentations on various topics include INDOT’s Solar Eclipse Response, ODOT’s Traffic Incident Management Center and their smart corridors, MDOT’s Flex Routes Operation and Performance, and KC Scout’s CPR program which Alvarez presented on.

A requirement of attendance included working on a TSMO-focused action plan for each state. MoDOT’s focus is planning on integrating the Transportation Operations Manual into MoDOT’s EPG, where applicable, among other future developments which KC Scout will work to support.
