KC Scout Manager Completes Road Safety Professional Certification

As the leader of a large team, it is important to have a deep understanding of your team members and what they encounter every day. KC Scout Manager, Randy Johnson not only takes his role very seriously, but also enjoys constant growth and has a love for reading and learning new things.  After 4 months of studying, Johnson took the Road Safety Professional (Level 1) exam and earned his RSP1 certification.

“The studying covered a lot of different resources, such as the AASHTO Highway Safety Manual, ITE Traffic Engineering Handbook and FHWA Road Safety Fundamentals,” said Johnson. “I am an avid reader and so I took the time to read through all the material.”

This certification not only gave Johnson a broader understanding for road safety, but also a new perspective on the human element – and how human behavior influences roadway safety.

“Safety is the most important part of our job and I wanted to make sure I knew all the different aspects of transportation safety.”

  It is important to be aware that with new opportunities constantly arising, our team here at KC Scout is ever-changing. It is even more important to get to know your new team members and make them feel welcome and part of the team. With that being said… meet the new Kansas City Scout Locator, Josh Stark! Josh joined the team at the top of the year, and from the very start he fit right in and got along with everyone. His easygoing nature is matched with a wealth of experience. Throughout his years in the workforce, Josh has worn many hats. He has worked in security and Debt Collection, been a medical courier and a school bus driver. KC Scout is made up of a skilled group of experts all working towards one goal: reducing traffic jams by improving rush-hour speeds, increasing safety, decreasing incidents, and responding to traffic situations. A key part of this group are the traffic management center operators - the eyes and ears of KC Scout. KC Scout strives to invest in its team to ensure they employ the best of the best. So how are these operators trained? In addition to the wide variety of experience they bring to KC Scout, the team is also provided with additional training from an expert - Training and Innovations Coordinator, Mary Bundridge. Bundridge got her start in traffic management at KC Scout as an operator herself. Over the years, she worked her way up and gained a wealth of supervisor and project management experience.
